PUR-CSM for processing BaypregŪ F Natural fibre mats made from flax, sisal, hemp, etc.,
are compressed into thin-walled, extremely lightweight automotive mouldings
using the CSM process and BaypregŪ F or similar raw material systems.
The products are noted for their high flexural modulus and elevated strength
(PUR-CSM BaypregŪ Natural Fibre).
This group of raw materials can also be used to manufacture sandwich structures
consisting of a honeycomb or corrugated core element and glass fibre facings
based on a polyurethane matrix on both sides (PUR-CSM BaypregŪ Sandwich).
When it comes to saving weight while achieving very high levels of flexural
strength, PU sandwich composites come second to none.
Where necessary, the
Sandwich process can be ideally supplemented with the CSM BaydurŪ variant
to provide, for example, additional reinforcement in partial areas. This
technique may also be used to create additional stiffening ribs or to
selectively strengthen the edge areas of the moulding. This combination of
processes can effectively reduce the material input to the necessary minimum.
