Polyurethane - everywhere you look
Polyurethanes are plastics with next to
no boundaries and they have long become an inherent part of
our everyday lives, in fact polyurethane products are almost
everywhere we look.

Fields of application
Polyurethane products are used
 |
at home, for example in the
form of upholstered furniture and mattresses, |
 |
in our motor vehicles (body and
interior), where they are lightweight, safe
components |
 |
to keep foods and beverages fresh |
 |
as energy-saving thermal insulating
elements in walls and roofs of buildings. |

Up to 5% annual growth
The world's
consumption of polyurethane has been growing continuously
because as a material it offers so many different
properties and unique ecological and economic advantages.
In fact, its consumption rate is increasing by up to 5% a
year. And there seems to be no end to this trend, quite
the opposite actually: polyurethane systems, often in
combination with other materials, are "capturing" ever new
fields of application and market segments - not only in
Europe and the U.S., but also in Asia, Central and South
America, Africa and Australia.

Polyurethanes save
energy and conserve resources
Polyurethanes are the
material of the future also in terms of their environmental
performance evaluation. Consuming merely 0.2% of the world's
annually produced petroleum, they do however:
 |
save millions of tons of
fuel by providing effective thermal insulation |
 |
help to save enormous amounts of gas
and diesel as lightweight automotive components |
 |
minimise energy costs as an excellent
insulating material in refrigerated appliances |
 |
conserve valuable resources because they can be
recycled. |
